Bama, LSU parade through the Big Easy

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WALA) - New Orleans is the place to be this weekend for sports fans as BCS-goers pack the Big Easy.

Pre-game events continued Saturday with a parade, featuring guests from both teams.

?The spirit of the whole BCS national championship will really come through in this parade,? said Mark Romig, a spokesperson for the city?s tourism department.

Both LSU and Alabama fans crammed the French Quarters for the BCS Second-Line Parade.

The parade has become a sugar bowl tradition, featuring the spouses of staff and officials.

?They second line out of the bar, into the streets, and then their moving down the street to second line music by ST. Augustan H.S. marching band which is one of the best bands in the south,? said Romig.

The event kicked off the street rivalry in New Orleans.
Alabama and LSU fans are yelling in the streets and showing their true colors.

?It doesn?t get much hotter than the sec to start with ? so what does the great cook say ? ?take it up a notch!? that?s what we?re doing,? said Terry Saban.

?It is going to be a mans game for sure. I mean every tackle, every play is going to be unbelievable,? said Heather Cook, whose father is the Alabama athletic director.

However, until game day arrives, the women of Alabama and LSU football will celebrate that rivalry on the streets of the crescent city.

?Love New Orleans. This is my fifth time being here and the sugar bowl people have been fabulous. We?re just starting our celebration a little early,? said Terry Saban.
