Dom Drayk: He tears himself up sometimes over his stupidity in the past, but other than that, they have a working relationship.
Claren: A fireball, this one. Ugh, poor choice of words. He likes her energy, and they get along well. He just doesn't want to be in her way when she picks a direction for her violence.
Adrienne Jastal: Drayk really cares about Adrienne, but he's too chicken to admit it, even to himself. He doesn't pretend to understand the first thing about her, knowing she came from a completely different kind of life than he did, but he wants to help her figure out who she is. He's a clumsy fool around her, and his affection is painfully obvious, though he'd like to think it isn't.
Demea Ravenwing: Hey, everyone's got a right to be a little insane, right? At least, in the Sellswords they do. He likes Demea. He's not so sure about the other ones, but she seems to be doing better to keep them locked away.
Aria Windfoot: A difficult girl to get to know, but Drayk would like to think they're friends. At least, he can't remember if he did anything to get him on her bad side. If he had, he'd be sure to apologize quickly and profusely for it, lest she be provoked into...unpleasantness.
Sinderion Direnni: He's very closed off, which Drayk respects. He trusts the elf will open up in time. As Drayk understands it, he's gone through a lot. Best not to press him, but rather to let him come around on his own. And he doesn't give him crap for being Altmer or anything. He knows some of his type got a little prejudiced after the whole war thing went down, but Drayk doesn't give a shit about that stuff. Sinderion's fine in his book.
Cassadin Hawke: Cass is like a brother to Drayk. They're both former addicts, of a different kind, yes, but Drayk feels like he has a better idea of what Cass went through than the others. That, and he loves the Nord's attitude. They get along really well.

Sandusky jurors begin deliberating sex abuse case

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) ? Jurors in Jerry Sandusky's child sexual abuse case began deliberations Thursday after prosecutors described him as a serial molester who groomed his victims, while his defense lawyer said the former Penn State assistant football coach was being victimized by an overzealous prosecution and greedy accusers.

Prosecutors said Sandusky was as "a serial, predatory pedophile" who used gifts and the pageantry of Penn State's vaunted football program to lure and abuse vulnerable boys who came from troubled homes.

"What you should do is come out and say to the defendant that he molested and abused and give them back their souls," Senior Deputy Attorney General Joseph McGettigan III. "I give them to you. Acknowledge and give them justice."

Standing behind Sandusky, McGettigan implored the jury to convicted him

"He molested and abused and hurt these children horribly," McGettigan said. "He knows he did it and you know he did it.

"Find him guilty of everything."

Sandusky's attorney said the 68-year-old former coach was being victimized by investigators who led accusers into making false claims about a generous man whose charity gave them much-needed love.

"They went after him, and I submit to you they were going to get him hell or high water, even if they had to coach witnesses," Amendola said in a sometimes angry closing argument.

If convicted, Sandusky could spend the rest of his life in state prison. He is charged with 48 counts related to 10 boys over 15 years. The jury includes nine with ties to Penn State University.

The closing arguments came after seven days testimony, some of it graphically describing alleged abuse suffered at the hands of Sandusky, including touching in showers, fondling and in some cases forced oral or anal sex.

Although Sandusky didn't take the stand in his own defense, McGettigan seized on an interview he gave NBC's "Rock Center" just after his arrest. In it, Sandusky seemed to stumble at times and struggled to give direct answers to questions about his conduct.

Asked if he was sexually attracted to boys, Sandusky told NBC's Bob Costas, "Sexually attracted, you know, I, I enjoy young people. I, I love to be around them. ... No, I'm not sexually attracted to young boys."

McGettigan said, "I would think that the automatic response, if someone asks you if you're a criminal, a pedophile, a child molester, or anything along those lines, would be, 'You're crazy. No. Are you nuts?'"

Prosecutors said Sandusky met his victims through The Second Mile, a charity for at-risk youth he had founded.

Eight young men testified that they were abused by the former Penn State assistant football coach, and jurors also heard about two other alleged victims through other witnesses, including another former coach.

It was the testimony of that coach, then-graduate assistant Mike McQueary, that prompted university trustees the fire longtime coach Joe Paterno and the university's president.

Sandusky has repeatedly denied the allegations, and his defense at trial included a suggestion that his accusers have a financial motive to make up stories, years after the fact.

McGettigan displayed the pictures of eight smiling children for the jury, reminding them of what he said were lives forever altered by Sandusky's abuse.

"These are childhoods ravished," he said. "Memories destroyed."

But Amendola anticipated that in his own closing statement, telling jurors not to let the prosecution tug their heartstrings.

"I'll be the first one to tell you that if he did this, he should rot in jail," Amendola said. "But what if he didn't do it? His life is destroyed. Don't be fooled. Don't get tied up with the pictures."

The eight accusers testified about a range of alleged abuse, from kissing and massages to groping, oral sex and anal rape. Penn State football assistant Mike McQueary said he witnessed Sandusky in a team shower with a young boy more than a decade ago, and is convinced Sandusky was molesting the child.

Amendola questioned McQueary's recollection of what happened, of what he claimed to see and hear in a football facility shower and how he reacted afterward, going to his father and Dr. Jonathan Dranov, who then said he should report what he saw to Joe Paterno.

"Do they say 'We have to call the police?' You know what they said. 'Talk to Joe Paterno,'" Amendola told the jurors.

If McQueary believed that he saw Sandusky raping a boy, why would McQueary later attend a Second Mile event, Amendola asked.

"If this man was performing horrific sexual acts on young kids, would you continue to support him in a tournament?" he said. "It doesn't make sense."

"Does Joe Paterno say we've got to call the police?" Amendola asked.

Defense witnesses, including Sandusky's wife, Dottie, described his philanthropic work with children over the years, and many of the 28 defense witnesses spoke in positive terms about his reputation in the community.

Sandusky's arrest in November led the Penn State trustees to fire Paterno, saying he exhibited a lack of leadership after fielding a report from McQueary about the 2001 incident. The scandal also led to the ouster of university president Graham Spanier, and criminal charges against two university administrators for failing to properly report suspected child abuse and perjury.

The two administrators, athletic director Tim Curley and now-retired vice president Gary Schultz, are fighting the allegations and await trial.

Earlier Thursday, the judge in the case threw out three of the 51 child sex-abuse charges against Sandusky.

Judge John Cleland found one count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and one count of aggravated indecent assault involving the accuser known as Victim 4 weren't supported by the evidence. Another charge of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse involving another boy was dismissed because Cleland said it duplicated another count.

That left 48 counts for jurors to consider.

Meet Harry Potter: Alan Moore's Magical Antichrist

The Boy Who Lived gets a hellacious makeover in the pages of Moore's latest 'League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' comic book.

"Harry Potter" is not for everyone. Some people do not like fun. Some people do not like magic. Some people do not like fun and magic together. I get it, and I accept it. Harry hate isn't something I'm into, but if that's your position, have a ball. You'll get no killing curses out of me.

But killing curses are flying, it seems, from the wand of Alan Moore.

The critically acclaimed and famously reclusive "Watchmen" writer is drawing a harder line against the boy wizard than even the staunchest "Potter" hater could dream up as the latest installment of Moore's "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Century 2009," out in stores Wednesday (June 20), features Harry Potter as the Antichrist. Well, almost, at least.

There's an undeniable resemblance between Potter and Moore's Antichrist. How startling are the similarities, you ask? Let's count the ways: Moore's character has a notable scar, a mentor named Riddle (the real last name of Potter's lifelong nemesis, Lord Voldemort) and travels to a magic school by way of a magic train hidden in King's Cross station, just like the Boy Who Lived. There is no mention of the words "Harry" or "Potter," but the result is clear: Moore has cast an analogue of J.K. Rowling's globally renowned hero as his very own Antichrist.

But don't start shipping Howlers off in Moore's direction just yet, "Potter" heads, at least not until you get the full meaning of what the writer is going for here.

In an early review of the new issue of "Century 2009," the Independent's Laura Sneddon analyzes Moore's choice as follows: "The headlines almost write themselves — 'Alan Moore says Harry Potter is the Antichrist!' — yet they miss the point. "What better representative of modern pop literature than J K Rowling's boy wizard?" Sneddon continues. "Moore's distaste for modern culture is made obvious, in keeping with his stance on the comics publishers he feels betrayed him."

Indeed, it certainly doesn't go unnoticed that "Potter" is a part of the Warner Bros. family, the very same company backing DC Comics' controversial "Before Watchmen" prequel series against Moore's wishes; turnabout is fair play, after all. Moore's choice of Potter as an Antichrist figure isn't necessarily directed at that character or franchise itself, then — instead, he's using the most famous, most recognizable and most relevant face possible to get his anti-franchise point across the table.

Is Potter the best option to make such a point? At first, I didn't think so. Haters are going to hate, but the "Potter" books, if not excellently written, are compelling stories with compelling characters who have introduced new readers the entire world over to the fantastic realm of literature. The films, too, aren't just commercial juggernauts, but critically acclaimed ones boasting top-tier talents such as Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman, Michael Gambon — the list goes on and on and on. There is strong craftsmanship on display in the "Potter" series on numerous levels. Why target something that's actually good rather than, say, a series that hinges on hollow, vampire-obsessed protagonists? (Hate mail can be sent this way, FYI.)

But in truth, "Potter" doesn't end with the stories. The books are closed, the theaters are empty. (For now.) But there's a whole new wizarding world out there: theme parks, online encyclopedias, unofficial off-Broadway shows and countless other parodies, toys, candy, more. I wouldn't go as far as saying "Potter" replaces story with money-generating greediness, as Moore seems to believe. But there's no denying that "Potter" really is more than just a collection of books and films: It's a lifestyle, not just for fans, but for flesh-and-blood, real-world muggles who keep the Rowling-manufactured train rolling ahead full steam.

If you're looking for an instantly recognizable face to hang your broader anti-franchise sentiments upon, then? Well, I suppose you really don't need to look any further than Hogwarts' finest.

As a "Potter" fan, I don't like seeing Harry used as a symbol of what's wrong in the world today. I'd like to think that there are better examples out there. But if you're looking at what Moore's trying to say here, maybe there really isn't a better example for him to use. Harry isn't just the Boy Who Lived anymore, after all; he is, inarguably, the Boy Who Lived Luxuriously.

Florida Hospital Medical Group and MinuteClinic collaborating

CVS Caremark's MinuteClinic is working with Florida Hospital Medical Group to expand access to healthcare services in central Florida.

Under the agreement, FHMG physicians will serve as medical directors for 12 MinuteClinic walk-in medical clinics inside select CVS/pharmacy stores in Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk and Seminole counties, including the CVS pharmacy at 1800 E. Highway 50 in Clermont.

MinuteClinic and FHMG also will collaborate on patient education and disease management initiatives. FHMG and Florida Hospital will accept patients requiring a level of care outside the scope of MinuteClinic's walk-in services for common illnesses, wellness and prevention services, including health condition monitoring.

"MinuteClinic joins Florida Hospital Medical Group in its commitment to help patients remain healthy by making high-quality, cost-effective medical care more accessible in Central Florida," said Andrew Sussman, president of MinuteClinic.

FHMG and MinuteClinic also will work toward fully integrating electronic medical record systems to streamline communication around all aspects of patients' care.

FHMG doctors and staff provide treatment and care for patients at their practices throughout Central Florida and at Florida Hospital's seven campuses, including Florida Hospital Waterman in Tavares.
